Academy of Fitness Business (AFB) is the provider of world’s leading fitness education across the globe. It provides certification courses for gym instructors and personal trainers. They believe in promoting fitness and a healthy lifestyle for one and all. With the motto of “Fitness comes first,” AFB has been educating people about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and knowing one’s body better.

Business Need

Academy of Fitness Business wanted to convert Certificate III in Fitness, an existing Instructor Led Training (ILT), into eLearning. Certificate III in Fitness (SIS30310) is an entry point into the industry for someone who wants to start as fitness professional. Upon successful completion of Certificate III in Fitness, the learner will be qualified to work in a Health Club as a gym instructor, group or exercise instructor or aqua aerobics instructor. AFB wanted to develop a comprehensive course that provides the knowledge which trainers and instructors would require while dealing with clients. The main objective of the course was to ensure that trainers and instructors are aware of commonly occurring workplace situations and know how to handle them effectively.

Solution

Certificate III in Fitness course would inform learners about exercises for different client groups such as children, adults and pregnant women, managerial skills required by the gym instructors, gym layouts, and gym equipment. Apart from this it also talks about highly technical information on how various human body systems work, high risk health conditions of the clients, and so on. We designed a highly interactive and engaging course that presents the content along with supporting high quality graphics that help the learner understanding the concepts and processes visually. The content was presented in an interface that resembled the look and feel of a gym. To ensure that this project was executed in the given budget and timeline, we created a templatized approach and opted for Articulate Storyline as the rapid development tool. Considering the target audience, the assessment using straight forward multiple-choice single select and multiple response questions that cover all the key learning points.
